I think there are discussions to be had about #1 and #2, but #3, to me, is unequivocally no.
Which goes back to my answers for 1 & 3. You want to change someone else? Then you have the responsibility to change them all the way, permanently. Whatever that takes.
If you can't stomach finishing the job - don't start. You want to free all the slaves? Then you fix the economy, and you require the freedman to inegrate. You don't allow them to integrate. You take responsibility for them 100% or 0%.
