So in Toronto, it's illegal to not wear a mask. Anyway, I was on my way home riding the trains about an hour ago when I was yelled at some old dude. At first I ignored him, but he was constantly telling me to wear a mask. I got fed up, so I showed him that I was in fact wearing the mask, it was just tied to my neck and it was just not attached to my face. That just pissed him off even more and after that he was yelling asshole at me every 10 seconds.
Anyway, I was continued to ignore him, but I lost my temper and yelled at him and I told him that:
- I'm not putting it on my face as a form of protest
- Canada is a free country (although I guess it isn't?)
- the mortality rate is less than 0.2%. This is assuming that on the CDC website the case fatality ratio of 0.004 is correct.
- and I also yelled at him that we don't live in an authoritarian government (I should have said country instead of government, thinking about it now at home).
After I got off the train, I pretended to cough at him, and his eyes were completely wide open like I just had given him HIV or something.
Anyway, I was wondering what would the cops do if they catch me not putting the mask directly on my face? Since I am wearing it on my neck, it should be fine right?
I'll be heading to work on Monday, but I'm hesitant of doing it again. I probably will do it again and fight the fine in court, but I dunno.
Thanks for reading my blog.
This time infinite. I am almost completely against the use of masks as they don't do shit (unless you are wearing a fitted and air-tight respirator with no gaps) but I will always have one handy in the event that some lunatic goes non-linear. People don't understand how easy it is to ruin someone's life with a single punch let alone a weapon. As low of a chance I would let that happen, it's better to be alive and well than to become obsoleted by some nutjob over a mask. The sane thing is to know how to de-escalate and swallow your pride. Pick your battles wisely.
