I believe Obama was born in Hawaii, but that also is not right; the 14th amendment authors explicitly wrote about how citizenship applies only to bloodlines, not soil, thus arguing against the language being used to justify birthright citizenship.

This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the government of the United States, but will include every other class of persons.

Mark Levin looked into the origins of Birthright citizenship and uncovered that it is vague and happened by a bureaucratic order in the 1960's around the same time of the Hart-Celler Immigration act of 1964.

Citizenship was, er, not granted to those born from aliens, or strangers, or foreigners, whichever word you desire to describe these people.

The ethnicity of Americans was almost exclusively from three bloodlines: English, Scots-Irish and German, but later extended to Italians, Norweigans and Swedes, and Russians.

Immigration was also done by each State. For example, those coming through Ellis Island at NYC could only settle in New York State.

A nation is the bloodline while a country is the soil, or land. That is those words' etymology.
