Ask yourself this: Even if McKay would have won, what would he had done that would be fundamentally different from Turdeau to turn this country around? McKay was/is Turdeau-lite. McKay is a barely less gay version of Turdeau in a blue tie.
I'm not a big O'Toole defender but at least he represents a somewhat significant change in both party leadership and a somewhat ability to win the next election.
On a fiscal basis probably not, maybe would be more friendly to resource industry infrastructure. But on a "vigorously attempt to shift the cultural paradigm towards progressive horsehit" basis, yes he would be different. And that alone is better than JT. He's a Harper disciple, Harper very actively just let social politics and movements come and go and not enflame them or even comment on them.
Like I said, I agree with O'Toole on more issues than MacKay, but a marginal improvement from JT to MacKay is better than having O'Toole and almost 100% certainly getting 4 more years of JT.
Nobody can when you have half the 3rd world and dead people voting.
