Oh no of course not, in Canada hate crimes apply to 2 of the 3 abrahamic religions. Much like white skin, Christianity is magically exempt from being protected from hate crimes. You can bet your bottom dollar if this vandalism occurred at a mosque or a synagogue this would have been addressed by our PM and his government. Media would be all over it running front page headlines about 'white supremacists'. The formula they follow is simple and pretty much mirrors the logic of 'black people can't be racist' :

Christianity (white snow-beasts from Europe)=oppressors/colonizers/bad.

Islam+Judaism (beautiful, diverse, not-European)=oppressed/colonized/good

Very much a binary system where there is only one bad guy responsible for everyone's problems : the bad guy worships a bad god and makes bad people in bad countries. These bad men from bad countries oppress the good people from good countries. Of course, the countries the bad men started function much better than the countries the good people come from and are very desirable to live in, but this has nothing to do with culture, religion, or genetics and its 'racist' to even suggest it.

It certainly should be.
