They can't afford cigarettes, booze and weed on the CERB.
It's $800 after taxes every two weeks.
That's minimum wage in most provinces, sub-minimum wage in others.
Cigarettes alone cost $527 a month in most provinces, 8 24's of shitty beer cost at least $300, and an ounce will run you $120 if you're smoking garbage.
So that's a pack a day, six beers, and less than a gram for over $947 and that's for the worst shit available. The aren't addict numbers apart from the darts, and any idle cigarette smoker would have trouble keeping it under a pack a day when there's nothing keeping you from having one.
That's only leaves you with $753 for rent, transportation, food, phone, internet, utilities, and entertainment.
You could possibly make that work if you were living in a rooming house but even then you'd be hard pressed.
CERB is not enough for anyone, that's why they're freaking out so much. It's pushing people right to-the-line which is why they're desperate for their payment to come in.
The government needs to drop the restrictions, slash taxes and restrict immigration to get everyone employed. The CERB makes good people desperate.
Not in a million years.
There is nothing that the government loves more than when people can't pay their taxes because that's when the government gets to impose interest and fees.
Many people haven't saved enough to pay back the CERB I'm sure, but there's no way the government is going to let them get away with not paying their taxes when the alternative is just so lucrative.
