I see this alot actually. My dad still has a perception that the NDP is the party of the working class and the Conservatives are the party of the rich. He actually gets very upset that I don't vote NDP because I "was born a peasant and will die a peasant".
He suffers from the fundamental misunderstanding of taxation, most people do actually. Jeff Bezos is completely fine with super high taxes, his salary is 80K a year, you can take all of it from him and won't care. Most of his wealth is locked up in assets and stocks. Plus once someone is rich, they don't mind a tax increase on your competitors (such as new entrepreneurs). They can afford it, and that person making 200K a year has less of a chance of becoming a competitor. This is why behind every socialist movement are rich dudes financing it.
It does seem counter-intuitive that resistance to voting Conservative would increase with age. I think maybe the coronavirus situation might have something to do with it. From what I've noticed, boomers like my dad (early 70s, prostate cancer) are terrified of the virus. Gen Xers like my older siblings shame young people for having social lives during COVID. I'm my dad's pseudo-caretaker basically (I'm only in my mid-30s but my parents had me late) and my siblings don't even want me to see my girlfriend for fear that I'm going to get the virus and hospitalize/kill dad. Even though my girlfriend doesn't have symptoms, her 65 year old dad isn't sick either, etc. Whereas my generation and ESPECIALLY the zoomers and younger millennials are getting sick of the media shaming us for wanting social lives, sex lives, etc. Especially at my age, I'm at that in-between stage of my life where I'm not a spring chicken and I'm in the unfortunate position of having to be a caretaker earlier than usual because my parents had me late but I'm still young and want to enjoy what is left of my youth. And the parasitical boomers want our generation to sacrifice our youth and future for them after they had already fucked over my generation a long time ago.
And yes not all boomers asked for this lockdown and social distancing stuff. But there is a lot of finger wagging towards young people during this pandemic and we are getting sick of it.

Based Millennials? Guess it's up to the zoomers to help save the country

Media might be to blame. Older generations watch MSM, not Youtube, and they're less on social media.
