We the people elect them.... that's usually how voting works. If elected they have that opportunity.
Considering it was their first election cycle, it's not surprising they have no seats. People in Canada seem to think we have only 2 parties and apparently like the abuse of having our rights and freedoms stripped away.
Explain your assumption that, just because they did poorly one election, they will eternally do poorly.

The Green party have been at it for 37 years and have only managed to climb to three seats. So what year do you estimate they'll win an election and form a government?
