Well as it is right now in most places we get dinged for both lol. The reason taxing bought goods and services is the correct way to do taxes is because people only pay tax on what they buy. They are not being blanket taxed just for earning an income. Lastly I think income tax removal is probably a bigger chunk of change back in people’s pockets than removing sales tax but the biggest benefit is people have more money to spend, they have more financial flexibility because they will have more take home money and they will probably spend more because they have a better quality of life and generally when you are less stressed you buy more stuff instead of gripping those nickels tighter.
