Problem is mostly Saputo... Greedy fucking family.
Lino Saputo is worth over 5 BILLION himself.
Only way to get that rich off dairy is fucking over customers hard with practices of price inflation, overstock destruction, and cutting costs with filthy practices like putting literal saw dust into shredded cheeses for weight (claiming it's for anti-caking properties).
Actual legitimate parmesan must come from Italy so expect to pay premiums. However nothing is stopping Saputo from making a Canadian parmesan for the domestic market at a fair price except their greed.
"Dairy production in the country is controlled under a system known as supply management. It's a controversial system that has seen its share of opposition. U.S. President Donald Trump called on Canada to end the practice for dairy."
Farmers intentionally destroyed a shit ton of milk because of Covid this year. Yes farmers are important but so many of them are complete pieces of shit.
Kill the supply, jack up the prices...
Heaven forbid having so much extra the price has to drop.
Agree with everything you posted except the farmer comment - cows NEED to be milked (2x/day), they can't be turned off. When dairies won't pick up the milk, what option do farmers have except to empty the tank to make room for the new milk?
