The CAF buying tear gas doesn't necessarily mean anything. The Army uses tear gas pretty extensively in training - both for gas mask training and just to fuck the troops around in the field. Like I wouldn't even be able to count how many tear gas grenades I've had thrown at me in Petawawa and Meaford, or how many I've thrown at people.
For this to mean anything, you'd have to figure out if the amount they're purchasing is exceptional, rather than just routine stock replenishment.
Nobody's asking you to trust them. I'm just pointing out that there's nothing unusual or suspicious about the army buying tear gas.
The army buys bullets too. If you found the receipt for an army bullet purchase, that wouldn't be an indication that the army plans on massacring Canadians, it would just mean they were running low on bullets.
I can't see them ever ordering expendable munitions like gas grenades in numbers as low as 2000.
Yeah, tear gas has an expiration date (don't ask me how long the shelf life is) meaning even if stocks aren't used, new tear gas will need to be purchased periodically.
