You can't. They've lived for decades trusting the TV set as their honest, reliable source of news. They scoff at the kids and their new fangled internets. That stuff is only good for fringe nonsense like conspiracy stuff and other such malarkey. If the trusted anchor man on the 6 oclock news didn't tell them it happened, then it didn't happen.
See, the TV news, radio news and the papers actually used to be credible. Like, highly credible. The way news outlets competed with each other back in the day was by trying to be the most balanced and objective news outlet of them all. The Walter Kronkite, Peter Jennings types were trusted household figures. News agencies were so steadfast in their commitment to honesty and integrity that heads would roll at the mere whiff of bad faith reproting. Even an accusation of bias in that era would be a big deal.
That's what your parents grew up with. But now the news has very rapidly (arguably just within the last four year) become completely corrupted from top to bottom. It happened so fast that your parents blinked and probably missed it. Before, where merely getting the facts of a story wrong though negligence was a career ender for journalists, anchors and executives, now they just lie 24/7 with complete abandon and don't even give a shit. They aren't even presenting a veneer of integrity anymore. They're just unhinged propaganda outlets now. And the people who are hooked don't know any other way to get their news.
To your parents, the internet is no alternative to passive, spoon-fed style news. They actually grew up trusting the man at the desk to vet the information for them. So unless they heard it from them, it's internet malarkey. And it's really hard to convince them how ignorant this is.

Edit:
Like look at news anchors then: Calm, emotionless, objective, almost monotonous conduits of raw but accurate information
Look at them now. Histrionic, emotional, dramatic, invested, opinionated.
The news isn't the news anymore. It's opinion and advocacy masquerading as news.
