Honestly their overall revenue is $690 M. That's .7%. That's pretty inline with private company retail shrinkage. The article makes it seem somehow criminal that they tell their staff not to interfere with thieves, but that's literally what all private retail tells their staff. It's better to cost the bottle of booze than to have the employee get injured and have to pay out for that.
True it's better to let a bottle of booze go out the door than to have an employee get hurt or die. Two things that piss me off are why aren't the security officers given special privileges to place offenders under citizen's arrest? They have bullet proof vests on and carry handguns no? Why not let them do their damn jobs as security and secure our tax payer dollars going out the door. You don't see Brinks truck drivers let thives walk out with bags full of money LMFAO! Second point is why the denial of information request? Wtf does the Government need hide from it's citizens about this whole affair? It's our hard earned money. We have every damn right to know where it's going, and how it's being used.
Agreed, the denial of the freedom of information request is absurd. The security in the LCBO definitely do not carry, probably best for the safety of the non shoplifters tbh.
Huh I thought they had guns on them. My local LCBO is in a small rural town so we don't actually have security. (Not that I've seen so far) As another person said on here maybe we should go back to having a counter with all the booze secured behind it. Seems like a waste to have security officers that don't actually secure anything lol.
