She got 43,017 votes on the first ballot, which puts her in third place. If votes were counted instead of points, the same scenario would have occurred. However, she jumps to first place (in terms of number of votes) on the second ballot, with 60,316.
I understand the importance of having a weighted system such as this or the electoral college in a general election when people across the entire political spectrum get to vote. Otherwise, every election would be decided by the leftist morons living in the big cities.
However, in a party election I don't see the need for this. Everyone voting is on the right. Sure some are more right than others, but I feel it should be based purely on votes. They can still do the ranking system....just have it based on number of votes across the country instead of points.
