I realize that now, after StartedGivingBlood77's post. I'm sorry I didn't catch on sooner.

I usually find shitposts to be hilarious. I think the reason I missed it, in this case, is because I liked Christopher Plummer as an actor so much, that it never occurred to me to look for anything other than an actual tribute. Cheers.

I take it the joke is that many people tend to confuse the two (combined with the Star Trek versus Star Wars thing). I didn't know that, because I think they're both great actors, so I've never had trouble telling them apart. It does seem odd to me, however, to make a joke out of a man's death,
