Remember when you worked hard with the community farming and despite how happy and satisfied you were the crops failed and everyone went hungry? Must be tough working an easy but boring job like a cashier and being able to eat everyday.
I think you are romanticizing things a bit.
A couple more years and they could have been a doctor, oh right, that's a job where you have to actually work.
I have a suspicion it's them thinking there will be an exodus of Yankee's flooding over the border when the American elections happen. I think whoever is elected there's going to be civil unrest, how much is hard to say. Who really knows though, keep stockpiling food and ammo.
Been there twice, everything you said is true.
My dad viewed the internet with disdain (despite not really knowing what it was, sure he'd tell you he knows but the man can't even use a tap debit card) until mom got a smart TV with Youtube. At first he denied that Youtube was part of the internet but eventually came around. Now he is a goddamn junkie.
Every fucking time he rolls out the "We are committed to serving Canadians, and will continue to serve Canadians" or a variation of that.
Wow, people mostly discussed the issue and didn't just cry racism on that post. You'd be banned and nailed to the cross these days for even getting a whiff of thoughts like these.
Too much isn't enough.
Maybe something like a yellow star that you could wear on your sleeve if your unvaccinated.
All that stuff took hard work and discipline that was beaten into them by generations even tougher than they were. Most people these days are too squishy and feeble-minded, caught up in the bread and circuses of the day.
Hardworking people that would easily integrate with our society.
And that whole thing with Charles Lieber and the Chinese students trying to smuggle out biological samples from the USA back to China.
People keep telling me there is no way it came from a lab, yeah sure, it came from a meat market that just so happens to be in the same town as the institute for virology. Gee, what a coincidence, there must be hundreds or thousands of meat markets all across China but this virus just happened to come from the same town as the virology lab.
It's like Chernobyl. "All that radiation? Not us, nope, your crazy. No way that radiation could be coming from the nuclear power plant". Doesn't take a goddamn genius to put two and two together.
I wouldn't hold my breath for anything to actually happen. I predict a lot of "well pandemic under the conservatives/Harper would have been much worse". People will go back to their lives and forget all about this stuff in a few months or until the next bread and circuses arrive.
