At the time, many subs with “dissenting” views and opinions were getting banned. IIRC, metacan mods felt it better to leave before being banned.
Further, in light of the blatant censorship and far-left leaning views on Reddit, a lot of people wanted to move their communities elsewhere on principle.
Reddit is far too heavily censored, corrupt and mainstream at this point to expect to have reasonable political discourse. Admins will shut you down if your sub doesn’t comply.
r/CanadianConservatives is ok. Lots of commentary from moderates and independents, liberals too (usually trolls but sometimes it’s an interesting discussion).
r/UnbiasedCanada is good but not a lot of activity.
