Canada has really low standards for immigrants.

90% of immigrants to Canada do not have jobs when they immigrate. Currently Canada is serving as a backup to those who weren't able to meet the bar to immigrate to the US. This is disgraceful and hurts our country. Although an immigrant is vetted for formal showings of merit they aren't vetted to confirm that their skills are needed by any employer in Canada. As a result Canada is constantly flooded with immigrants who often end up lowering the bar for labour in the country. Often they aren't even working jobs in-line with the skillset they used to qualify for express entry. You have doctors driving taxi cabs and delivering pizzas because they can't get jobs as doctors. Even if an immigrant gets a job after entering the country there is no guarantee the following is true:

  1. there is no guarantee a Canadian wasn't qualified to do that job
  2. there is no guarantee this job is a bar raising job for Canadian wages
  3. there is no guarantee this job is in the skillset the immigrant was admitted for

What the data says:

The average recent immigrant in Canada imposes a fiscal burden of $5,300 annually https://financialpost.com/opinion/setting-the-record-straight-on-the-benefits-and-heavy-costs-of-immigration-to-canada

Only 63.5% of new immigrants to Canada are employed in 5 years.. Data source: Labour market outcomes of immigrants aged 25 to 54, by period of landing, Canada — 2010-2011

There is no reason that shouldn't be 100% and the country has full power to make it so. Canada needs to raise the bar on immigrants and demand an LMIA for any Express Entry application to be approved. This guarantees that an employer has an immediate need for the immigrant and they are raising the bar for labour in the country as no Canadian is available to do the job. Awarding CRS points for a job is not enough it must be a minimum bar. Discuss why this is good or bad for Canada.
