Also show them this article: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/ontario-hospital-occupancy-covid-19-hallway-healthcare-1.5784075

The chart at the top shows how most hospitals were more crowded BEFORE the pandemic than in 2020 - pick any hospital and look at the numbers.

Yes! Most Ontario hospitals were more crowded before covid: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/ontario-hospital-occupancy-covid-19-hallway-healthcare-1.5784075 (Select any hospital from the chart near the top of the article.)

On top of that, what happened to the 1500.beds that the government claims to have added in Apr 2020¿ https://www.fao-on.org/en/Blog/Publications/health-2020

The hospital issue is just more fear mongering by the media. It's disgusting.

If people want to go to this extreme and they feel it's the right thing to do, by all means go for it.

Just don't force me into it or try to tell me that not doing so is wrong.

I don't agree - more information is always better and if he doesn't do it the doubt will always be in the back of his mind. That would breed more unhappiness and animosity long term than to just find out now and deal with it either way. The truth always comes out sooner or later anyway.

Sounds like the marriage is already over, and he likely has a bond with his daughter that he won't be throwing away because of some test results.

You also need to think of the kid. Maybe not now, but if the ex is the biological father she deserves to know and to have a relationship there too.

OP, you deserve the truth and to be happy. Don't settle and do what you think you need to do to get there.

Not to mention that obesity is highly correlated with covid death! https://duckduckgo.com/?q=covid+death+obesity

The fact is that body positivity = shorter life.

Obesity and physical fitness should be a priority during the pandemic, not locking up healthy people

Yes, it could be the pneumonia, and caused by Covid.

The problem is that every news source (and tweets by politicians) is claiming this is a definite Covid death, when it has not yet been confirmed by public health. The Ontario death stats do not include this case and isn't part of the official counts (yet?)

Most articles are just quoting a "family friend" that started a fundraiser, and in the case of the Globe article, a family member.

Responsible media would have confirmed the cause of death before publishing, or at least used words like "suspected". Also, no mention of comorbidities anywhere even though she was obese based on the photo. (The Globe article mentions that she hasn't been outside in months and that her favourite foods are hot dogs and pasta, not exactly healthy.)

Interesting read, thanks for posting the links.

Still seeing so many people scared and worried about disinfecting surfaces. Crazy

All of the numbers reported in the media are so misleading. Why are we only hearing about the absolute number of cases instead of positive test rate or other relative number?

The other thing they aren't talking about is that the death rate in the "third wave" is back to pre-second wave numbers. Either the new variant is less lethal or vaccinating old people is working.

We are being locked down for nothing. It's complete bullshit

Every level of government is completely incompetent.

I was looking into this as well - the election laws seem to prohibit the advertising of political books during an election, presumably to prevent political parties from circumventing advertising limits. The entire case seems to centre around the use of lawn signs, which are not traditionally used to promote books.

However, I think they have a good defense and can beat the charges.

  • The sole purpose of their advertising was to sell their book, not influence the election, voting is not mentioned at all
  • I don't think the lawn signs meet the definition of political advertising in section 2 of the elections act as they don't mention the party by name
  • They could easily argue that the planned timing of the book release during the election was to capitalize on public interest in political figures for maximum sales (a common practice for books relating to political figures) https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=today%205-y&geo=CA&q=Justin%20Trudeau
  • The book was published Sep 4, before the writ on Sep 11
  • The other 18 books released about Justin Trudeau around the election did not receive the same scrutiny, even though some of them were advertised using print media and billboards

You're right, the penalties under the elections act are summary offenses which means trials are not required to issue fines. However, the similarity ends there - the "review" is not a trial, it's just a review of written evidence by a more senior person. See section 521.14.

No, don't use that site, get the APK from parler directly:

https://company.parler.com/android/parler-release.apk

Or, go to the home page (log out if you're logged in) and click the Android icon at the bottom of the page.

This is such bullshit. People will just drive to neighbouring cities and shop there. This will just end up spreading covid to other areas.

Just wait until they issue passports for getting vaccinated

Unbelievable. This is really the top resolution for the Liberals? Of course it's not how to bring our deficit in line or how to address rampant corruption in the party.

Hopefully if they pass some sort of resolution on this people flock to CPC.

The article says that the person tripped an alarm and the RCMP were called instantly, and that they have camera footage of the crime. Even with perfect evidence the RCMP won't do anything anyway.

Not necessarily, as we'll have domestic competition which will keep prices lower. That approach seems to be working fine with wheat.

I know someone that works in poultry and it's a shitshow. Sometimes they can't get enough chickens to keep up demand with the products they make like nuggets. Limiting the amount of chickens a farmer can raise and sell is ridiculous.

They were suggesting that if it's a full-time job a 10% cut would be a material change and probably enough to claim constructive dismissal. You would be entitled to severance if you choose not to accept it.
