Doesn't matter if its essential or not. The government never banned non essential travel. You're supposed to self isolate for 14 days upon arrival. This rule has been in place since March. Media and stupid conservatives like you are harping on this without any actual thought. These politicians have no choice but apologize cause in Canada we always like to apologize for nothing burger. Canada is such an embarrassment to the whole world. We care more about these non issues and pretend that we are outraged but when it comes into important things such as vaccine distribution, getting back to restarting our economy, and providing aid to the airlines we are pathetic.
First of all these politicians didn't make up these rules. Minister of transportation is responsible with coming up with these travel rules which falls under the Liberal government. Nowhere it ever mentions that you cannot travel aboard or you're banned from travelling. They advise you against travelling, but cannot ban you. The politicians are simply following what the rule states. This hysteria of politicians travelling is going overboard and I don't understand the fuss really.

A guy who looked like he just came from Mad Max collecting plastic bottles from a garbage can, who then proceeded to make threatening gaggling sounds as I passed.
A lady who found it fitting to take a dump on the grass and start wiping in plain sight.
Homeless folks hanging out in front of a social services place, yelling at passers by.
Dude straight up sleeping on the sidewalk on Bay st., impossible to go around.
Random mystery liquids emanating from entryways, forcing me to jump over them, until the smell of urine hits.
There's more but I'd frankly just like to not reminisce at this point. This is within less than one hour of walking. So yeah, it has gotten worse.
It's going to be interesting once winter hits, let me tell ya.
