Not entirely true. The biggest drop was due to the invention of the birth control pill. Our birth rate barley changed since 1975. But between 1960 and 1975 it fell from 3.9 children per woman to 1.7 children per woman. Currently it's at 1.6 children. Only a change of 0.1 since 1975.
