Electric batteries produce massive carbon footprint during construction. Lithiom-ion isnt some magic item. It takes resources to mine it and resources to turn it into a functional battery. This is done in places like Germany, Thailand, China, etc that use COAL as a major source of power.
Just one of hundreds of articles and studies you can find on carbon footprint for these "green energy" electric cars.
Just to build each car battery—weighing upwards of 500 kilograms (1,100 pounds) in size for sport-utility vehicles—would emit up to 74% more C02 than producing an efficient conventional car if it's made in a factory powered by fossil fuels in a place like Germany, according to Berylls' findings.
That's just construction. It's about the equiv of driving a gas car for 10 years just for the battery.
For perspective, the average German car owner could drive a gas-guzzling vehicle for three and a half years, or more than 50,000 kilometers, before a Nissan Leaf with a 30 kWh battery would beat it on carbon-dioxide emissions in a coal-heavy country, Berylls estimates show.
This is in germany with filters and scrubbers for coal power plants. Germany relies heavily on coal and wont be stopping in near future. But they also do 1st world level quality control and emissions reduction on their plants. For China, its basically shit goes in, shit goes out. Burn whatever coal they can get and fuck emissions.
And this is for small batteries. Newer ones are going to double the kWh from 40s to 80 and 90 range.
This is before we look into lithium mines or various other aspects related to the acquisition of these materials and affects on the environment. Electric cars arent magic fucking DA SCIENCES! These people are insane if they think you can just transition every car to electric and solve all pollution and "carbon emissions" and save the planet. It's a fucking cult level of logic and steadfast resolute devotion. Power grids will need massive expansion to accommodate BILLIONS of cars worldwide draining from them. Cities already experience brownouts from too much strain and crumbling infrastructure. Wind and solar are scams and have lifecycles (all those eye sores are like 25 years and then need to be torn down and replaced completely, solar is about 50 years and many early versions are heading for junkyards with no recycling possible and no plan to deal with their toxic and corrosive remains) and intermittent. They cant sustain full time draining and massive increase of electric cards by the millions.
Its like they are living in a fairy tale where DA SCIENCES are this magic fucking wand. Commercials and propaganda videos are replacing their reality or some shit. They cant differentiate between shit in a movie and what happens in real life now. They want no oil to be used, yet their phone, tv, laptop, clothing - everything on them is 99% oil based. They only seem to think of it as black water and cant fathom the millions of byproducts produced from oil that their consumer based life revolves around.

Well said. However, if our current predicament goes the way it does, our bigger worry would be having shoes never mind a car of any kind
