At onset of covid, they were hoping to develop a vaccine near the annual flu shot vaccine effectiveness. This number is around 40-50% annually, though falling fast in recent years with 10-20% effectiveness in last few years running. That was the best case scenario and based off previous attempts (and massive failures) to develop a SARS and other coronavirus vaccines.
What they fail to tell you about these covid vaccines is its basically a corporate shareholders meeting discussing their in-house trial with hand picked people and no independent verification or studies or anything else. They can basically make the qualifications and stats say whatever they want for progression to the next phase.
The most effective vaccines at this time dont reach 95% effectiveness. We're talking better than smallpox, mumps, etc type vaccines. And they magically created a cure for the common cold strain (coronavirus family is like 10-20% of common colds) in a couple months of work since covid lockdowns AND tested it and ran multiple trials on animals in that time period and just now got a vaccine trial on humans with near 100% effectiveness? And it all rolled out post-election in USA?
This is great for media propaganda and so reddit/twitter nutjobs can post and say I LVOE SCIENCE!!!! and validate themselves without realizing the massive lie they are being fed here.
I didnt mention trump at all and only marginally political with post-election announcements as it relates to media coverage. I dont pretend to know Trumps reasoning, but it seems logical he would talk about a vaccine that is in the media during covid updates for his country.
You catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Like any politician, he is telling people what they want to hear.
Of course, he's not 100% ideologically consistent like the utopian philosopher king that you dream about at night, but I would take 20 years of Trump over 1 week of Trudeau. Hell, sign that guy in for life.
Yeah, even the whole "vaccines cause autism" thing was a stupid over generalization of the original issue. It actually started as thimerosal, a mercury-containing preservative in the MMR vaccine, causes autism. It turned into a ridiculous movement that claimed all vaccines were poison which inspired the current counter-movement that anything you put in a vial and call a vaccine is 100% safe and effective and if you say otherwise you're a Facebook Karen.

So in your opinion, why does Trump also parrot the media line about these vaccines? He celebrates it like any other media outlet.

Yeah, the problem I have is though that he not only talks about it, he celebrates it.
I don't pretend to know Trumps plans. Here's a few thoughts:
He supports voluntary vaccines- I don't believe he will mandate them, and most reasonable people would accept as the best position to take.

Wow, it's almost like vaccines work
