You're asking these people to get themselves fired from their jobs (presumably anywhere they go) by defying their employer's orders on masks, and presumably end up hungry, homeless and ultimately dead - just to further your personal crusade on masks.
Again, that's just not reasonable. These people have a right to survive too.
If their boss was ordering them to shoot everyone who walked into the store then fine, they'd have a duty to disobey that order. But that's not even close to what's happening. They're just telling people to put a piece of cloth over their mouths.
Nobody needs to sacrifice their livelihoods to satisfy your personal crusade on masks. What exactly are you sacrificing here?
I am telling everybody to tell their bosses to get fucked once in a while.
Calling 911 because the Office Space dude wants to collate using his personal red stapler instead of the company approved black one is ridiculous. Calling 911 because a person in your store is not wearing a mask for 1:30-seconds is ridiculous.
Asking a store clerk to act like a police officer is ridiculous. We have had mandatory pay-at-the-pump now in BC for about 10 years because one idiot like the fat chick tried to stop an SUV from leaving without paying and managed to get himself run-over (because his boss intimidated him probably through illegal threats of withholding pay) and it is fucking ridiculous.
That's easy for you to say. Have you sacrificed your livelihood in service to your cause?
It doesn't matter what you think is ridiculous. It doesn't fall to lowly minimum wage employees to sacrifice their livelihoods in service to your cause. Not when they need those jobs to live.
Yup. Quit my job out of principal when I finally realized just how bad the corruption was at the highest international levels. But the point is, I won many, many little battles during the two-decades on the way up just by having an 'I don't give a fuck if I lose my job attitude'. I did what was safe. I did what was efficient. I refused unsafe work. I fought for my fellow employees. In one case I specifically stepped aside to allow another person I felt better qualified for a promotion instead of myself.
It falls to everyone. If there are 20 bosses in a hierarchy, then every boss stands up to their boss. At some level of the hierarchy somebody will realize how ridiculous bullshit is and have the power to change it.
Beautifully put.
It's worth noting that one of the main reasons they didn't initially want to enforce masks in Canada was because they didn't want to make it a toxic situation for employees to enforce it... Well, now they did so it's up to us to resist like they knew we would.
