Doesn't the non-withstanding clause allow the government to basically wipe their ass with the Charter though?
The British Commonwealth (New Zealand has the most cucked lockdown) and Europe doesn't respect civil liberties to the extent that the United States of America's constitution does. Except for Sweden and maybe Switzerland?
And even Sweden's Prime Minister is starting to cuck with their new restrictions. He ignored the recommendation of the state epidemiologist Dr. Anders Tegnell to keep regulations loose.
Yeah I agree that the Supreme Court of Canada and of each province should challenge these lockdowns. Even if parliament at the federal and provincial levels have to pass legislation invoking the non-withstanding clause to bypass the courts. Canadians need to realize how bad the non-withstanding clause is. Most Canadians aren't even aware that we have this tyrannical clause.
We took Civics in Grade 10 (not sure if that's junior high or just high school). I can't recall if they taught us about the non-withstanding clause. I found out about it online awhile back. I have seen leftists bitch about the non-withstanding clause when Doug Ford threatened to use it in 2018. But you won't see any leftists bitch about it if non-withstanding clauses were used to uphold lockdowns and gathering restrictions.
These challenges happen or already happened.

As u/NoStepOnMe states, the notwithstanding clause has to be explicitly invoked in order to fromally suspend any of those rights.
What really makes the charter legally worth about much as a piece of toilet paper is the fact that our sham of a supreme court can just go along with any abuse that a government chooses to undertake and there's nothing anyone can do about it. Knowing this, the government can and does just trample our rights with complete abandon as if the charter doesn't even exist, because for all intents and purposes, it doesn't.
Yep... “supreme court go along with any abuse that a government chooses”. Is it because the same people that control our government controls the supreme court?
Canada is so deeply controlled with corruption our only hope is Trump wins and exposed the corruption with the voting machines and shows the people how far reaching this scam has gone.... world wide.
Voting machines made in Canada and programmed in Venezuela using Bill Gates Windows platform. Voting data is upload to Germany and god knows what happens there. Tin foil hat is sparking now...
This is part of the reason I posted this. I heard the same about ‘wiping their ass’ with the Charter. Where are the smart people who can break this down for us?

Meaning, all the rights "guaranteed" are limited to what the gov/courts think is "reasonable" and can be suspended whenever they feel like it
So our only hope is to appoint new judges like Trump did? Over 200 state judges and 3 Supreme Court justices. So in other words we got nothing?
Yup. If I were a judge I’d be very, very strict in interpreting section 1. But most judges in Canada would likely give the government the benefit of the doubt and allow the abrogation of rights on a public health or similar basis.
If Trudeaus minority government holds till 2023, he will appoint another 2 Supreme Court justices. In July 2021 a judge will have to retire and another in December 2022. This means that 5 of the 9 judges will have been appointed by Trudeau.
And the "great" thing is that the next government who ever it will be, will have no Supreme Court appointments till 2028.
Exactly. I also seem to recall there are no property rights for Canadians either.
New Zealand is COVID free, and has largely returned to normal life.
Who's the cuck now?
New Zealand had to reintroduce restrictions when they imported the virus back into their country. Even if those restrictions are gone now (they only have 4 cases/day), the restrictions will return when more travel-related cases get imported into the country. New Zealand is also a small island nation of like 5 million people.
This new normal for New Zealand still sucks. Their tourism industry is completely gone now. And New Zealanders can't travel outside the country without going into cuck quarantine when they return.
If you want to eat the shit out of Jacinda's asshole, be my guest.
Just gave me a half chub there bud.
Triggered much?
