Doesn't the non-withstanding clause allow the government to basically wipe their ass with the Charter though?
The British Commonwealth (New Zealand has the most cucked lockdown) and Europe doesn't respect civil liberties to the extent that the United States of America's constitution does. Except for Sweden and maybe Switzerland?
And even Sweden's Prime Minister is starting to cuck with their new restrictions. He ignored the recommendation of the state epidemiologist Dr. Anders Tegnell to keep regulations loose.
This is part of the reason I posted this. I heard the same about ‘wiping their ass’ with the Charter. Where are the smart people who can break this down for us?

Meaning, all the rights "guaranteed" are limited to what the gov/courts think is "reasonable" and can be suspended whenever they feel like it
So our only hope is to appoint new judges like Trump did? Over 200 state judges and 3 Supreme Court justices. So in other words we got nothing?
Yup. If I were a judge I’d be very, very strict in interpreting section 1. But most judges in Canada would likely give the government the benefit of the doubt and allow the abrogation of rights on a public health or similar basis.
If Trudeaus minority government holds till 2023, he will appoint another 2 Supreme Court justices. In July 2021 a judge will have to retire and another in December 2022. This means that 5 of the 9 judges will have been appointed by Trudeau.
And the "great" thing is that the next government who ever it will be, will have no Supreme Court appointments till 2028.
