The government has misrepresented this and no one calls them out. At best, some people will get a rebate on part of the actual carbon tax paid. But what about inflation caused by the carbon tax? The most simple to understand is the increase in food and transport prices caused by higher fuel costs. These increase will be caused by higher carbon taxes but are indirect costs. Yet these higher costs won’t be rebated. This is a tax grab pure and simple.
A lot of people simply can’t think two or three steps up or down the chain.
You buy food at the grocery store. But where does it come from? There’s half a dozen distribution warehouses and truck trips. And that’s only for finished goods. Your Oreo cookies have another chain half a dozen warehouses long. Every step burns diesel moving stuff around. Muh rebate cheque won’t cover that.
Eat your bugs biggot!
I predict a rise in jerry can and marked gas sales!
