Over 700 ICU beds province wide. Excluding neonatal, etc, about half of those are available for covid patients. Not even remotely close to capacity or need for worry or emergency set up of extra beds.

Note the starred data points. The 138 ICU are a subset of the hospitalized. Not additional. Also, the total number of tests is 2.5 MILLION.

Of note, the population of Canada at the time was about 30 million and we are at 40 million now. I dont know Alberta specifically, but its safe to say the population in city centres has grown significantly like other major cities in Canada and they still had similar numbers.
