The numbers you're using aren't [died from COVID] / [infected with COVID], they're [died with a positive COVID test result] / [Received a positive test result] which isn't even remotely close to the same thing.
Factors like false positive, false negative and undiagnosed cases will all impact the true level of infection, while distinguishing between death from COVID and death with COVID will effect the true death toll. The number 0.2% (I checked and it's actually 0.26%) derives from an estimate from the CDC back in May. I can't guarantee that they've adequately addressed the above issues in their methodology but if we want to live in a world where we Trust the Science™, it's the only estimate I've come across. If you have a better one I'm open to seeing it.
I was the OP. I wasn't offering a conspiracy theory. I was pointing out that the numbers you picked don't mean what you think they mean. You may as well have tried to calculate Canada's average salary by taking the GPD and dividing by the population. That's just not what those numbers mean and aren't a valid use of them.
0.26% is the mortality rate for individuals who have been infected by COVID as estimated by the CDC. There may be organizations out there that have a better model for estimating fatality but the methodology you came up with is crude to the point of being useless.
