I'm from Atlantic Canada, where everyone seems hopelessly liberal. I have no idea what is happening in Alberta/Saskatchewan, so I would love to hear some opinions. Is there really any chance of Wexit happening in the next 5 years?

Considering how fast things are moving now, five years feels like twenty years.
There is a significant chunk of working Albertans that are tied to education and healthcare - to stay in these professions you either have to submit to group think or keep your opinions to yourself at the very least.
However, the gravy train is long gone in Alberta and the tax base to pay the salaries of healthcare and education workers is eroding.
Two things will inevitably happen:
Hyperinflation will kick in as Canadian currency will be debased at a record pace to cover insane increases in borrowing.
This will make those with jobs nearly as poor as those without jobs, as the purchasing power of the dollar will be a fraction of what it is today.
Once these two things happen, WEXIT may become a reality, as Canada will be economically destroyed.
After Quebec attempt at separation, they have made laws that make it basically impossible even if you get majority vote on referendum.
OH NO! NOT LAWS!! Written by ottawa and enforced by... who again?
Isn't separation historically against "the law"? I had this argument with an r/canada tard ages ago, and he kept on saying "but it's against the law!"
Uh huh, well, cool.
Lawyer here. There is no mechanism, legally, for Alberta to separate. It would be far more difficult than, for example, Quebec.
Bwahahahaha, no.
And this comes from someone living in a town with less than a 1000 people in Saskatchewan. No one is talking here about Wexit. I doubt people even know about it here.
And if it would ever come down to a vote like with Quebec, you can be sure Calgary and Edmonton would spoil it like Montreal.
Crush? We could simply sell oil at below market value. Know why? Because Canada unlike the middle east has other resources.
We do that right now.
This is true, and another commenter above said why. Edmonton and Calgary would vote against it regardless. It would be near impossible to get the people of one of those cities on board. Nobody pays attention to how AB is screwed by the feds, and people are low information voters.
Don't you dare leave BC out of this you smelly pirate hooker!
We, and by we I mean those of us here who remember when a dad working a regular office job was able to afford a home in a nice part of town and not have the family eating poptarts for dinner. shit i didn't finish that sentence did I?
well, anyways, WE.... want to slow shit down a little. We also have massive amounts of natural resources that the world needs, and WE don't want to have to ask ottawa for permission to sell while also kicking back a large amount to them because reasons.
but I'm from there! born and raised, not a commie, just surrounded by them. I've watched my beloved town go to shit and I do believe I'm the last sane man here.
No way man, I love the ocean, I'm not running away because wokeness invaded.
