Great post man. We are in the process of leaving the country. I don't own a single Canadian equity. This is not a situation that can be fixed and it's time to drop the patriotisms and look at the facts that there are countless countries that would be glad to have you, at least right now. Let them fail.
We haven't decided yet. We are currently in the process of buying property outside of Canada right now, focusing on eastern europe and SE asia, while not ruling out south america yet. There are so many considerations, but we are anticipating a USD collapse (alongside CAD), so staying away from latin america which is largely based on USD seems like the obvious choice.
Step 1 is buying properties in 2-3 countries and setting up a corporation in a tax haven, step 2 is finding the one we like the most and moving there. We're intending on transferring money out of the country via cryptocurrency to prevent any fuckery with exit taxes. Any equities will be owned by the tax haven corp, and will NOT be in Canada.
We are both lawyers, and know the writing is on the wall.
The retardation was always there. But what happened is that social media, YouTube, FB, Instagram, Tic Tok etc made it easy for everyone to see, and it also let the retards compete with each other to reach unheard of levels of stupidity. We need to unplug all that crap.
There are a few dual citizens in my church, basically 90% of dual citizens are moving back to the states. My wife is American we are moving to the states next year once we get my green card. Things aren’t better in the Democrat part of the states though. If we couldn’t move to the states we would probably move to Alberta, but Alberta is super cold and not as strong economically (anymore). In the states there are places that are conservative, warm, and prosperous. Win win win.
If you’re not a citizen and you can’t get family to sponsor you there are many ways to move to the states. If you have a professional designation you can get a company to sponsor you (accounting, engineering, travel nursing, programming). If you are self employed and you have two employees here you can drive to the border and get issued a visa on the spot, but you need to open up business in the states and can only work for your business. If you have 50k usd to invest, you can invest into business into the states and move there as well, this takes a few months, and again you can only work for that business.
Many of them are also choregraphed. Which means they practiced for possibly hours. Maybe they practiced after work but even still, if they were so overwhelmed why add that on top of your busy days?

Move to the states. Check out the e2 business/investment visa. If you invest 50k usd into a business you can move to the states.
I would not do that personally. The USD is in the same position as the CAD.
Why does currency matter? This is about moving to the states.
Basically buy a turnkey franchise like A fast food restaurant. You make money and get to live in the states.
I posted a similar reply to your comment above, cheers. tldr, we haven't fully decided yet.
Social media was a mistake

Family member works in a hospital in York Region. It's been dead since March, even during the holiday season when it's usually crazy busy.

I have a friend that works at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga. She said that the hospital has been dead since the pandemic started.
I know a few gov't health workers. They can't talk or they would get fired.
