Respect to the Chinese government for achieving that ratio with a one child policy in effect and all. There must be a peoples decree against sausage parties written into the legislation. With all those brainwashed women bobbing their docile little heads I can just see Xi standing in a dark corner, twisting that rotund steam bun of a face into a knowing pervy sneer.
That's what we don't really understand about China.
The Chinese know better than anyone else that their government is retarded and that they do nothing but lie.
Canadians still kind of trust their government and media in a very unhealthy way. That is not something that you could say of the Chinese.
If find it completely believable that they would have listened to the policy and simply ignored it. The officials aren't that competent and they aren't adverse to bribes.
Think of Services Canada, but even more nepotistic and incompetent, and add being vulnerable to doing things for "favours."
That's what you can expect from officials under communism. The bureaucratic class gets more incompetent the more power they possess.
The Canadian housing market is a great example of that phenomena, Chinese aren't allowed to move their money out of the country and yet ever high-ranking Chinese official owns 4-5 empty McMansions in Canada.
We listen to our government and we swallow its propaganda, the Chinese don't so when we hear about their government proudly talking about their one-child policy we need to understand that their government are full of shit and that the people are ignoring them.
There are lessons to be learned from people who have lived under communism.
Most of all, don't trust the government, don't trust the media, live your life.
No one can predict the lifespan of communist rule.
Romania is a great example of that phenomena. 2 weeks before the revolution everything seemed to be perfectly stable and then they gave Ceaucescu a 2 hour long trial for crimes against the people, took him outside and shot him (and his wife as well for good measure.)
Communist regimes exist until the people get sick of it but there's no real way of predicting at what point they actually get sick of it.
Tianamen Square was the last time the Chinese got sick of their communist leaders and that ended in a massacre.
I don't know when they'll decide that enough is enough and go full 1789 but it's in the cards. I don't doubt that for a second.
