This is a serious question. Every time I call my riding's MP or MPP I either get their voicemail or some politically correct douchebag who won't actually get me on the phone with the REPRESENTATIVE who is supposed to be carrying my community's wishes and representing them in Federal/Provincial parliament?
I don't even remember hearing that there was a townhall or a direct Q&A between MPP/MP and their constituents.
Why the FUCK are these conservatives allowed to trod in and around parliament and vote on whatever the fuck the party wants them to vote without OUR having a say in it? Like..at all?
And the thing is, I might be a peasant, but apparently the same rings true to those who lead a more influential life. I just had a meeting with a multi-multi-multi millionaire and he just told me that he cancelled his membership because this party has not been listening to its own people and that it's been infiltrated by socialist communists.
What can we even do? It's not like I can just up and run for a conservative candidacy in my riding. I have to APPLY for candidacy and guess who votes for me? Actual candidate party members. So even if my constituency overwhelmingly supports me and wants me in to represent them, I have to be "voted in" by candidates that don't represent my own riding! What fuck is this bull shit can someone actually with a level-headed understanding of our system please explain this to me?
Nope. Wrote to a libtard MP a year ago about an expense virtually all small businesses/sole proprietors have and most pay American companies for it. The market used to be dominated only by American companies but today there are good Canadian companies too who could serve our business owners and since people in Canada act like the USA/Trump is Nazi Germany, I said maybe the government should raise awareness about this here, at minimum put this information in guides on their website for starting a business since money staying in our economy is good?
No response. Not even thank you. But you can bet your ass she's collected all her paycheques for doing nothing.
I've written to my Conservative MP a couple of times regarding issues. One I got back a chain form letter with some information regarding stuff I asked about. The second was a personal letter with an answer to a question and a protest to an issue. I have spoken to him in person during the last election. Not much to tell you about that.
Now my new MLA I haven't had to contact since I moved back to Saskatchewan. But prior to me moving to Vancouver for a few short years for work, I was more active with the party and personally knew my then MLA at that time.
I also know various members of opposition parties. Some are good and we could find common ground with despite our differences. Not all.
We're lucky here in Saskatchewan. Not all out politicians are psychopaths. Always watch out for the ones with the brightest smiles.
In the last four years I had more opportunities to talk to Trudeau at a townhall than to a Conservative MP doing the same.
I had lunch with my MP this past June (Conservative) with myself and 2 others from our industry to discuss our concerns over recent changes to the law (OIC ban) which greatly affected us. Took 2 emails to set it up and he was open too it. His assistant even followed up 2 days later asking us for more information and literature on the topic.
The car is already rolling down the hill towards full on socialism in Canada, whether you like it or not. When it comes to political parties our choices are - do you pick a driver with the foot hard on the gas, or one who lets the car roll but gently taps the brakes once in while.
Preach man
I'm not a constituent but I emailed "Big PP" just to say thanks and he wrote back to me showing his appreciation and it was sincere and genuine, not some "boiler plate" response.
I’ve only ever gotten boiler plate back, or a statement that shows they didn’t even read the email sent
