I've been hearing rumors that top brass are not listening to Trudeau. Any confirmation would be appreciated.

The media makes it a partisan issue, not the Canadian parties. O'Toole, Trudeau, Bernier, Singh, Ford and so on all participated in pride parades. Even here in the "Conservative" Prairies we have Conservative politicians going to pride breakfasts:

Or visiting a Pride Festival:

The red and the blue column are on the same side when it comes to the LGBT stuff.
Oh fuck off. What the fuck do you take me for?

Yes because they feel they need to be seen supporting "pride", due to how politically vulnerable they are on that issue. That makes it a partisan issue, and and therefore forbidden territory for the military.
What is so hard to understand about the notion that the military needs to stay out of politics? Is it really that hard to understand the danger of the Canadian Armed Forces converting into the Liberal Party Armed Forces?
Here let's try turning the tables on this: What if Harper had ordered the Military to participate in anti-immigration protests in uniform? Would you be saying "No that's fine because most Canadians agree"? No, of course you wouldn't. You'd be screaming bloody murder. And you'd be right to. The role of the military is not to be used as a partisan militia by the ruling power. That military defends ALL Canadians, not just the ones you agree with.
Because neither the military nor the leaders of our political parties see it as "politics" that the military is allowed to march in pride parades.
I doubt that Harper or even Trudeau ordered the military march in pride parades. The military did it on their own since 2008, when they marched the first time in a pride parade under Harper. Unless you think that Harper ordered the military to participate to woe voters and thus make it a partisan issue for the Conservatives.
The military doesn't defend all Canadians. The military would even kill Canadians when they were ordered to.
Society changes and when the vast majority of Canadians are supportive of the LGBT agenda, then the people in the military will reflect it. What a military member can represent in public or not is laid out in the Queen's regulations and orders. And since participating in uniform in pride parades is not "reflecting or is likely to reflect discredit upon the Canadian Forces", they have the right to participate in it. Participating in an anti-immigration protest in uniform would bring discredit to the Canadian Forces, because not only our society would be against it but also every single political party in Canada.
Do you think I'm stupid? Do you think you can just say blatantly retarded nonsense like "our parties don't see the gay pride movement as political" with a straight face and get away with it? It couldn't be more political if they tried.
If it weren't political it wouldn't be flooded with partisan branding and inter-party bickering. You know why you don't see that shit on Remembrance day? Because Remembrance day, unlike Pride, is apolitical.
You fucking people. You always resort to the same "But pride isn't political!" defense when called out on this. The 'Pride' movement is highly politically contentious, and the parties themselves treat it as a partisan issue. That MAKES it political. There's absolutely nothing you can say to make that less true.
Just admit that you've run out of arguments and concede the point already. Jesus.
So the Conservatives pander to the LGBT crowd, the Liberals do it and the NDP, the Greens, the Bloc ... but you know it's a partisan issue.
If Canadian military members would protest for better veteran treatment would it be also political, since every single party panders to the veteran crowd?
Maybe write a letter to Harper and tell him how wrong he was to order the military to participate in a pride parade.
