I've been hearing rumors that top brass are not listening to Trudeau. Any confirmation would be appreciated.

The only thing sad here is to think that it's a partisan issue. Or to think that it decided the last election. When every current Canadian party is supporting pride parades and similar events.
Maybe Harper shouldn't have made it then a "partisan" issue in 2008 when he "ordered" the military to participate in a pride parade.
Jesus Christ.

He didn't. It was the Trudeau government who authorized CAF members to wear their uniforms in pride parades.
You do understand the difference between private citizens marching in pride parades on their own time in civilian clothing, and the military participating by way of uniformed soldiers, yes?
You accuse me of being blind? Here the same article as above from 2008 when Harper was PM:
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/soldiers-march-in-toronto-gay-pride-parade-1.725575
"Lt. Steven Churm, one of 10 soldiers from across the country who marched in uniform, said their presence sends a message that the Canadian military is inclusive and an equal-opportunity employer."
So, did Harper make it a partisan issue by ordering the military to march in a pride parade in uniform for the first time in Canadian history?
