Current day populist movements are bankrolled by billionaires. Left wing and right wing. Protests against pipelines in Canada are driven by left wing populism in Canada and sponsored by some US billionaires who use environmental organizations like the Tide Foundation to make sure that their investment in the companies that transport oil by train is protected. The left is blinded and thinks that they won by blocking a pipeline while it's worse for the environment and Buffet and Co pocket billions in profits.
And on the other side we have right wing populists crying against globalism. Attacking trade agreements left and right. Trump is a right wing populist, but also a billionaire from New York and member of the elite class. He decried the unfair trade deficit with Mexico and told the world how bad the NAFTA deal was. Then he sent two Wall Street billionaire bankers to renegotiate NAFTA. In four years he managed to double the trade deficit with Mexico. Biggest increase under any US president in history. And the right wing is blinded by the praise of the new USCMA deal and they think it's a win while car factory after car factory closed in the US and Canada, but not a single one in Mexico.
Scott Adams said it best, facts don't change opinions. So you are spot on with the emotional argument, the left plays the emotional card the best and the culture and media reinforce it well for them. As for populist parties in Canada, the only viable path I see is taking over the CPC from within. Sort of like Trump with the GOP. First we need a populist leader of the CPC, and even then it will be rough (look at how the GOP establishment treated Trump). I voted PPC in 2019. Max made a lot of errors that probably have screwed the party. First he didn't even secure his own seat, and was campaigning in left wing cities like Hamilton, Halifax, Windsor. He also let a lot of morons run as candidates, which gave the media the fuel it needed to label the party as insane. Max's french accent and his inability to speak english very well will forever hurt his chances. PPC also has no party constitution, by now that's unacceptable. Due to this, many party members and former candidates have abandoned the party. So the party already has a horrible reputation amongst its own voters/candidates.
Why are people still whining about saving the country? Unless you're planning on staging some kind of violent revolution, this country is dead, finished. There's nothing you can do about it. Most people want the mass immigration, the feminism, the socialist policies, the Covid totalitarianism.
Rather than fantasize about some movement that'll never materialize, the best thing you can do right now is get stronger, learn how to use weapons and gain survival skills, preferably in the wilderness, in preparation for the coming collapse. S is gonna HTF and when it does, it's going to get real ugly, real fast.
The West has been headed in this direction for half a century. Technology such as the internet and social media has accelerated this process.
There has been more change in the last 4 years than the preceding 15 due to social media and the Trump anomaly (the plan all along was for Hitlery Clinton to win)
There is no quick reversal for this shift. People all over the West will suffer. Many will die. This is 21st century Bolshevism.
There will be a massive economic collapse that will leave many starving and the others totally dependent on the government. This is part of their plan.
Make preparations. Gather resources, make a plan. Learn some survival skills. Considering the direction we are headed and the speed of acceleration, the economy could collapse before the end of 2021.
Even if you did gather enough support, are the elections in this country real?
If you did gather enough support to be an opposition or leader party, how would you deal with the corruption in the career staffers? Trump tried to face the swamp and lost.
I know those feel like "later" questions, but the truth is there is a large segment of the population who refuse to vote because they see all politicians and parties as corrupt. And I think they are not wrong.
You are right that the media controls the message, and we are basically in an oligarchy right now. They can, and will, twist, lie, smear, call you violent, lock you up, etc.
You might be successful with real stories of harm, but how will you clearly connect them to the corrupt politicians? Victimhood might not appeal to people who are exhausted by that.
There is a populist movement in Canada, it's just a left wing populist movement.
And nothing would change.
Current day populist movements are bankrolled by billionaires. Left wing and right wing. Genuine populism doesn't exist.
The mass supports this billionaire funded populism. They are cheering for the elite class, as long as they think the elite class represents them.
