I used to think like you, except in the US, and towards Republicans that I reluctantly supported (like John McCain and Mitt Romney). Then Trump came around and made me realize that we would have been no better with Romney or McCain than Obama; they are the same team.
We thankfully vote for a person, not a party, so Trump was able to hijack the Republican party. You, on the other hand, don't have that choice. I'm not highly educated on Canadian politics, but looking around here, it really looks like CPC and the Liberal Party answer to the same puppet masters.
Again, look at the US: 2017-2018, Trump was President and Republicans controlled the legislative branch, but all those "conservative" Republicans that talked a big game when Obama was President did nothing when they actually had power.
