Trudeau is basically just the Canadian version of Baghdad Bob at this point, trying to convince everyone that the economy is TOTES FINE and cool and normal. Nothing to see here, pleb.
Do you really think that the unemployment rate is at 60% right now?
With labour force participation (true unemployment), yes it is.
Our labour force participation rate is higher than in the US (64.7% vs 61.4%). Is our economy therefore in a better place compared to the US?
If you believe economic health is entirely based on single indicators, then sure, believe that.
I don't believe that. You brought labour force participation up. Do you think that the unemployment rate in the US is worse than here in Canada because they have a lower labour force participation rate?
I knew something was wrong looking at this month's numbers
ADP is a company that provides software for companies to deal with payroll, taxes, tracking work hours and similar HR stuff. A small amount of Canadian companies use this software. ADP also reports how many Canadians are on payroll through a statistical analysis of the data they get from the companies which use ADP software. During the pandemic they reported that out of the almost 17 million Canadians on payroll over 9 million lost their job. They corrected this number to about 1 million. You either believe that the unemployment rate is 60% (like before the correction) or 8% (after the correction).
