The races of those involved may not play into the impetus for the crime, but had the races been reversed, the national media almost certainly would have projected the crime to be motivated by hate,

Which is exactly what happened with the recent mass shooting at the Asian massage parlour. The shooter even said he was not motivated by race yet the media still went on and on about it being race related. Instead of making a story about how Asian women are enslaved in these sleazy massage joints they make a story about anti Asian racism which is unrelated to the event.
