Most so-called "developed" countries (I no longer refer to these countries as rich, because they aren't) are neck deep in debt. So how will a global effort led by debt ridden countries make anything better? How can a bunch of debt ridden countries band together and magically make things better? By relying on poorer countries? None of this makes sense. It reminds me of the last Japanese banking crisis about twenty years ago - the debt ridden banks with terrible assets were forced to merge. The results was fewer debt ridden banks but no increase in financial health. Moreover, Canadians didn't vote for the UN to respond to Canadian issues. This sucks.
