I've heard that both Japan and South Korea both 'have nukes' that can literally be assembled in 30 minutes but that 30 minutes is a long enough time frame that they're not officially counted as nuclear-capable countries.
Taiwan isn't dumb, I'm sure they have capabilities that China hasn't particularly accounted for. I hope so at least because they're going to need them soon.
I think that China is going to hold off until countries start boycotting the 2022 Olympics. If you start seeing a giant wave of 'westernized' countries boycotting China 2022 than China will just say fuck it and it'll be go time. If the US and Canada and Europe decide not to boycott then China will make a move immediately after the Olympics, just like Russia did in Crimea, and Nazi Germany did against Poland.
I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the USA quietly supplied nuclear kits to its allies during the Cold War. They’re probably not the super powerful bombs we all think of, but they’re more then enough to sink a fleet that’s trying to launch landing craft or wipe out an industrial complex.
When I said “nuke the Chinese” I meant put the leftovers in the microwave for lunch.

China would sink their island into the sea if they even tried. Dumb idea
China's navy is like ten times bigger today. Taiwan would fall within a day or two.
Neither did the US.
Taiwan is not even half the size of Newfoundland and an island. They would simply blockade it and bomb it into oblivion.
