Actually they prohibition was much worse in the states than here. Moonshiners used to create alcohol up here and smuggle it across the border to sell. We also had ways of getting proper alcohol. But the Reason the prohibition happened was because women would have their drunk husbands come home and beat them. Though I don't know if it was the alcohol that was the problem or something else.
