And it is facing the divine judgement that comes down on a polity that fell asleep and became corrupt. So many old testament bible stories come to mind ... we partied and fell asleep with the gates to the kingdom open. We let corruption set in and the highest institutions in the land no longer apply the law to themselves nor face any mechanism capable of disciplining them. This is going to end catastrophically unless there is a serious soul awakening among the population.
