I heard from St Paul AB local that the pejorative is ‘chuggers’, a la the listerine thing.
Bemusing as in the UK a ‘chugger’ is a ‘charity mugger’- one of those annoying young charity street interceptors wanting you to sponsor poor waifs around the world, usually something like ‘Plan Canada’ Africa blathering all about ‘giving girls and women a chance’. I usually decline saying that’s sexist, or that they are wasting their time doing it in African countries with Islamic governments.
Sounds like typical of education of the time. Strict and student required to (gasp) work. Most students of RS had a good or neutral experience. The biggest complaint was bullying by other aboriginal students. Less than 2% of aboriginals of the last century attended a RS, and of those, most only attended for a year or two. Despite this, SJW strive to make RS the centre of aboriginal life and problems. Nonsense.
CBC. Gets worse every year I swear. May as well call it “boohoo Indians TV”. A lot of “news” or “features” is ‘muh indigynus’ this that the other. Obligatory Red Indian story.
What about the peoples that were before the Indians? Oh yeah. They wiped em out.
This. I have seen this attitude on the reserve first hand. It's the mindset you would have seen in communist Russia. Rather have everyone starve than have one person make more of themselves than the other.
Crabs in a bucket. It’s like with any kind of economic ghetto, from homeless “transitionary housing”, to the projects. Can’t succeed in that kind of environment.
No one from the community wanted to better themselves because those that tried just had other community members come squat in their house and steal and break their shit because "sharing" was part of the "culture"
On this reserve in Australia, the government at some point had built an entire subdivision of modern homes beside the desert highway like you'd see in any Canadian suburb.
Except all of the new homes were sitting empty and abandoned and covered in graffiti and full of bullet holes because community members absolutely destroyed them.
I'd never see anything like it. It was the closest thing I've ever experienced that looked like a warzone.
All the survivors I see are fat as fuck and havent worked a day in their lives. Few are thin, but are listerine addicts.
At least their breath is probably minty fresh

Everybody was hungry and everybody got the belt and the paddle at school.
