“Losing?” Wilfully blind CBC at it again. The nation lost patience a long time ago.
Flying to the US remains an option, but of course you still have to do the whole test kabuki health theatre at the airport to get on the damn plane, even flying to a state like Montana which currently has no Covid1984 rules.
Here’s my theory: Trutard and his cronies keep, and have kept the land border closed but the air transit open because they know damn well that lawful Canadian citizens cannot be stopped leaving Canada over a land or water border, because of the constitution.
Why did the close only the land/water one? Because he can effectively simultaneously claim there’s a travel option available whilst having both shut down, close 1 officially, have the other (air) not be used a lot because of the weight of hassle and cost involved in going that route.
A rona test going out is anywhere between $100 and hundreds. Each. Then there’s the arrive can app hassle. The landing back into Canada hassle. Trutard knows damn well that the airlines will police the ‘no test no get on plane’ while hiding behind ‘muh private business’ canard. The land/water border you are using your OWN vehicle, no exit test required (or can be refused) deal with the CBSA Border gestapo and done.
I posit most folk go “fuck that I won’t bother” and Trutard gets his way.
