The concept of building a movement that can bring in people who are usually disillusioned with politics is a viable strategy.
No, it's actually not. Maybe in the "Dreams can come true if you just believe in yourself" fantasy world but not in the real world.
Of the 43 federal elections this country has had over the 150+ years of its existence, every single one of them has been won by one of the two the major parties (The Liberals and the Conservatives under their various names).
And do you know why that is? There's a simple reason for it: Because unlike the PPC, the major parties practice democracy. They elect a new leader every few years and they vote on what the party's policies should be. This means those parties can keep up with the shifting political winds from one year to the next. This is how they stay relevant and stay on top of the polls even after 150+ years of existence.
This necessarily means that it's impossible for a minor party to come from behind and sweep an election because if that minor party's ideas were popular enough to get elected on, a major party would be running on them.
That is why it's always been either the Liberal party or the Conservative party winning elections. There's no room for startup parties when the major parties can (and do) shift their policies to keep up with the electorate.
And to think that the PPC is going to be the first party in Canadian history to buck this trend is just straight up delusional. You know how many minor parties have come and gone, thinking just like PPCers are now, beleving they're going to be the first startup party to sweep a Canadian election? Dozens. LOL. and they ALL said the same shit you guys do about establishment parties being corrupt and it's time for new blood and bla bla bla. And it never amounts to anything.
Think the PPC is going to be the first ever to buck the trend is as delusional as people who count on winning the lottery to provide for their retirement. Actually moreso. At least it's possible to win the lottery.
It is what happened with the Reform party did.
And what did the Reform party ever accomplish other than to keep the Liberals in power?
Besides that, the key distinction between Reform and the PPC is that Reform increased in popularity after they launched. The PPC has only declined in popularity since they launched.
see, people actually took the Reform party seriously because they were a serious party, complete with leadership elections, policy conventions, a constitution, published financials, all the components that make a party legit. The PPC has none of that because it's a crackpot/wingnut sham/joke party. Everybody in Canada knows this except you guys and it's frankly embarrassing. It's like watching someone campaign his heart out for the Rhinoceros party not understanding that it's a joke.
Like at what point do you accept the reality that this PPC thing is a dud? You live in a 70% left-wing country. On what can planet can a hard-right fringe party that polls at 2% and which a literal neo-nazi party offered to merge with capable of getting elected by a 70% left-wing country? It's astounding that there are actual humans who seem to genuinely believe this is possible.
Ham what is your suggested stratagy to end the lockdowns?
Well it certainly isn't to whine on a soapbox and rub shoulders with Hitler admirers and holocaust deniers. What is that going to accomplish?
Canadians overwhelmingly support the lockdowns so if I wanted to end them, my strategy would have to be to run for office while not overtly opposing the lockdowns since doing so would guarantee I lose. And I can't end any lockdowns if I don't get elected, can I?
This is what you guys refuse to understand. You refuse to play to win and insist on instead just playing to virtue-signal to the right-wing fringes, then you wonder why you don't win. It's fuckign mind-boglging. You're INSITING that parties make you promises that will guarantee they lose and you don't care, you just want to hear leaders make the noises you want to hear, election outcomes be damned. It's like you're not interested in solutions, you're just interested in hearing what you want to hear. And no matter how many times it's explained to you, you refuse to understand.
Let's try an analogy here. Let's say hypothetically there's a voter out there who really wants to put women back in the kitchen by banning them from having jobs and making them the property of their fathers or husbands (No I'm not calling you a misogynist, this is just a hypothetical example of some wildly unpopular policy position).
So he says to O'Toole
"O'Toole you cuck, you'd better publicly promise to put those women back in the kitchen or else I'm not giving you my vote! I'll vote PPC instead!"
Well that's stupid because even if O'Toole wanted to put women back in the kitchen, and even if he secretly planned on doing it, he'd be an idiot to publicly make that promise because it's wildly unpopular and would cost him the election.
So that moron who's demanding O'Toole promise to a wildly unpopular policy position that would guarantee he loses? That's you. That's exactly what you're doing right now. You're demanding O'toole take positions that would guarantee he loses because you have no forethought, you're not interested in solutions, you just want O'Toole to make the noises you want to hear. That's naive and childish.

Their numbers have flatlined since Dec 2020.
The party is polling (on average) 27% lower than they did the day before the 2019 election.
And Benrier's own popularity in his home riding has dropped by 24% since the 2019 election.
