Canada's National Advisory Committee on Immunization's revised guidelines, the new guidance calls for the Pfizer-BioNTech offering due to "Lower reported cases of myocarditis/pericarditis ... compared to Moderna Spikevax."
What myocarditis/pericarditis? This is a conspiracy theory. The vaccines are safe, bigots. Take your poison and shut up.
Tempest in a teapot folks. It rarely happens (1.5 cases per 100,000 vaccinations) and it's rarely serious when it does. Compare that to 1 fatality for every 50 people who test positive for covid. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/canada/
Read on:
"The highest rate of myocarditis reported in Canada in association with the Pfizer mRNA vaccine has been for males aged 12 to 30 years following the second dose, with about 1.5 cases per 100,000 doses in B.C. Most receive conservative or no treatment and have no serious outcomes." http://www.bcchildrens.ca/about/news-stories/stories/myocarditis-pericarditis-and-the-covid-19-vaccine
"Up to and including September 24 2021, there were 812 cases of myocarditis and/or pericarditis with reports submitted to the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and Health Canada from over 56 million administered doses of COVID-19 vaccines" https://www.alberta.ca/assets/documents/health-myocarditis-and-pericarditis-following-covid.pdf
If it's a tempest in a tea pot then there shouldn't be a recommendation. Other countries have banned the use of moderna because it's dangerous to young men. Your poison vaccine is not so safe after all is it?
Got any links to government announcements that it's "banned"?
Everything I've read - and I can't read all of it - says that some countries are limiting its use in young people only, but it's usually because they have an adequate supply of another vaccine. I doubt you'll find anywhere that has "banned" its use if there's nothing else available for young people.
Misinformation. Nothing is banned. I recommend reading the document: https://www.canada.ca/content/dam/phac-aspc/documents/services/immunization/national-advisory-committee-on-immunization-naci/rapid-response-recommendation-use-covid-19-vaccines-individuals-aged-12-years-older-myocarditis-pericarditis-reported-following-mrna-vaccines/summary.pdf
It says, in part:
"After reviewing the latest evidence, NACI continues to:
Strongly recommend the preferential use of a complete series of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine over the use of viral vector COVID-19 vaccines in all authorized age groups.
Based on new evidence, and in order to further minimize the rare risk of adolescents and young adults experiencing myocarditis and/or pericarditis after receiving a COVID-19 mRNA vaccine, NACI now recommends: Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty mRNA vaccine (30 mcg) is preferred in adolescents and young adults 12 to 29 years of age."
In other words use Pfizer if you have it but Moderna will do if you don't.
