There will be no more books left, because there is no incentive to bring them back. Who uses libraries anyways? Everything is online. Libraries are just there for homeless people to take a dump or use drugs.
They did this here as well. I thought it was just because of covid, but it would not surprise me in the least if this was the real reason behind this change in policy. Still, if you have a certain number of overdue items, you can't borrow any others until some are returned.
