Private prisons are the easiest example of selling citizens liberty for profit. They pitch high recidivism to investors because they make bank on full prisons regardless of crime rate
Do you feel the same way about Trump getting his house raided?
And you're ignoring the fact that innocent people get gunned down and killed in their homes.
Ya, i’m not a fan of private prisons, although it’s also something that I don’t care much about either. Nevertheless, just saying that privatization favors wealthy investors over health and security of people doesn’t make it true. And, your prison example doesn’t support this statement either.
The only reason you don't care is because you don't realize how massive an injustice it is, but that's ok - society hides it on purpose. If normal people realized neo slavery was occuring it would have traction for social change. As it is, it's out of sight out of mind, and innocent people can go away, lose their voting rights, and be exploited for their labour because a corrupt judge + cop + entire system targeted them. Canada doesn't have some of the problems the US has, but it's by no means humane.
Also it is a direct example of gvnts taking a buck at the expense of people wdym. It literally always ends in more overpopulation, longer sentences, extra inhumane conditions - and they completely abandon trying to rehabilitate offenders and it becomes a revolving door system. Just because you don't hear about how many rich goons profit off of things doesn't mean there isn't massive corruption, it just means the same goons influence the media.
Profit is good.
Okay maybe if we were in ancient Rome and rich people actually gave back their excess money profit would have a point, but at this point in our late stage capitalism profit is just stolen wages
