Trump Derangement Syndrome is Very Real
All of his supporters are suffering from it
Since his improbable — and illegitimate — election in 2016, Donald Trump’s supporters have been in search of new and evolving defenses to justify Trump’s unjustifiable behaviors. The breadth of these defenses is astounding, highlight the fact that his supporters, like Trump himself, are only comfortable on the shifting ground of their own alternate reality in which constantly retreating from fact and objectivity is the only way to maintain the illusion.
None of these defenses are viable. They can’t be, as Trump’s behaviors are indefensible. So any effort to rationalize or justify his actions is inherently self-defeating and thus ultimately doomed to failure. Still, some of the attempts at defending Trump are sillier and less rationale than others — there is a spectrum of stupidity, after all — and first and foremost among these outrageous efforts is TDS: Trump Derangement Syndrome, the claim that his detractors hate Trump so much that their judgement is skewed because Trump’s mere existence has made them deranged.
The irony of this defense is that TDS does seem to be a real condition, but Trump’s supporters are the ones who suffer from it. Just like their hero, they are projecting, accusing those who understand that Trump is dangerous and delusional as themselves being the delusional ones. Those eagerly imbibing the incoherent babbling of a narcissistic, sociopathic moron are forced to attempt a justification of their support for such nonsense by pretending that those intelligent and/or empathetic enough to see through the charade are the “deranged” ones.
Yeah. You do reek of it.
